Command

Command

The management of SAR teams is handled in the field by SAR managers working alongside a tasking agency. SAR managers are highly trained individuals who undergo extensive training and are responsible for the safety and operations of their teams.

Some of the responsibilities of SAR managers:

  • Working with the tasking agency such as the RCMP or BC Ambulance Service
  • Leadership
  • Preplanning
  • Risk assessment
  • Management of search and rescue operations

SAR managers are assisted in their tasks by regular KSAR members who fill roles in operations, planning, and logistics. All KSAR members can be expected to help in these roles throughout their career.
