‼️Important Safety Reminder:
👉Reroutes May Lead to Hazards – Exercise Caution While Driving!
📌Navigation systems do not always take into account current weather conditions or the state of the roads. During road closures, navigation tools like Google Maps and GPS may direct you onto potentially unsafe routes or onto roads that are not suitable for vehicles with low clearance. Closed roads or treacherous mountain paths can become impassable due to adverse weather conditions, even during warmer months.
To prioritize your safety and the safety of emergency personnel, please follow these guidelines:
⛔Adhere to all posted road closure signs, as they are placed there for your protection.
⚠ Exercise caution with GPS reroutes, as they do not always ensure safe travel.
🚗If you are traveling in an unfamiliar area, stick to paved roads.
🎒Always have an emergency car kit prepared, including snacks and water.
🌦Before starting your journey, check the latest road and weather conditions available at www.drivebc.ca/
💙Stay safe and travel wisely! (DG)

UPDATE: Subjects were found safe last night. We would like to remind travelers that when the GPS is rerouting you around a road closure, please make sure it’s routing on paved roads. The back roads in the interior are always changing and may no longer be accessible or suitable for low clearance vehicles.
19.00 KSAR is called out to search for 2 missing subjects and their vehicle in the Cache Creek area. Team departed and is enroute. (DG)

🔴The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a number of high streamflow advisories in the Interior as the forecast calls for rain and possibly snow this weekend.
River levels are rising or expected to rise rapidly. The public is advised to stay clear of rivers during rain events due to the risk of quickly flowing water and potentially unstable riverbanks.
⚠️The forecast predicts precipitation across the BC interior through Sunday, with heavy rain expected on Saturday (June 21) in the southeastern region, particularly in the Rocky and Purcell Mountains and the leeward side of the Coast Mountains.
The River Forecast Centre notes that moisture coming from the east may lead to increased upslope rainfall on the eastern slopes of several mountain ranges.

🔴TASK UPDATE: On Saturday at approximately 6:00 PM, KSAR was requested by the RCMP to locate the owner of an iPhone whose SOS feature had been activated and the coordinates indicated that the phone was located south of Scuitto Lake. A team of 14 members mobilized and conducted a search of the area using UTVs but did not find the individual or the phone. A K9 team was also deployed to search for any physical evidence, in case the phone had been dropped in that location.
Later, it was determined that the owner had accidentally activated the SOS feature without realizing it and had returned home safely. Around 10:00 PM, SAR managed to contact him by phone, and he confirmed his safety.
🆘When your emergency SOS is activated, a request for help, including your location, is sent to a monitoring agency, typically routed directly to 911 first. This information is then relayed to the appropriate emergency services, such as the RCMP, Fire Department, or Ambulance. If Search and Rescue needs to be involved, the call will be routed through the Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) in Victoria, which will activate the nearest team.
⛔If your emergency SOS is triggered accidentally and results in a Search and Rescue response, it is crucial to contact emergency services (911) as soon as possible. Explain to the operator that the SOS was a mistake, and they can cancel the alert to avoid unnecessary dispatch of SAR teams. (DG)
